What will happen if I die?

A sobering thought - What will happen if I die?

As I was praising and worshipping God getting ready to receive the word from God for this week, I felt the Lord ask me two questions:

“If you had a heart attack in the night and died in your sleep, can you be sure that you will be spending eternity in Heaven? Is the life you are living worth Christ dying for?”

Wow, that was a very strong question which nearly stopped my heart pumping! I recently had a scare when I felt chest pains overnight and had to go to hospital to have it checked. My heart is fine, but my blood pressure was high (due to the excitement of our Revival Meetings with Ken Gott). Praise and Glory to God, all is well.

However when God asks you such a question when you have come so close to a heart attack, it is more than a sobering thought. I believe that this was the message that He wanted me to convey this week in our weekly newsletter. This is a reminder that we need to keep short accounts with God and constantly be aware that we have a sinful nature. It does not matter how long that you have been a Christian or whether you were baptised or not, it does not matter if you go to church every Sunday and say the daily mass. What does count when you are absent from your body, is, did my life reflect the finished work of the cross or did my life make a mockery of the sacrifice of Jesus’ life? Did I forgive even as Christ forgave me? Did I ask God to forgive me for sinning against Him? He is a Holy God and every time we commit a sin, we sin against Him.

Forgive us our sins (trespasses) as we forgive those who sin (trespass) against us”. For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.  Matthew 9:14-15

God is faithful and just and forgives ALL our sins, but there are conditions, we need to ask for His forgiveness, in other words (confess your sins to Him and don’t do it again). Just as importantly, we need to forgive those who have offended us, otherwise God cannot forgive us.

Don’t assume, but judge yourself severely today! Be blatantly honest with yourself: if you died today/tonight, where will you be spending eternity?

With love and God’s richest blessing

Wendy
