Paid In Full

Money Matters: Money is at the forefront of all that we do even though God exhorts us through His Word that “Freely you have received, freely give”. Also, “Seek first the Kingdon of God and His righwousness and all these things shall be added unto you” “My God will supply all your needs, according to His Glorious riches in Christ.”

When we show love and kindness to soneone who is able to repay us, then what benefit is that to us, even the world does that. Look at Christmas, the righteous and unrighteous give gifts, usually priced according to what they know they will get in return. Therefore they have received “paynent in full”.

I want :o encourage the kind of giving that earns a reward in heaven. When you arrive at the pearly gates and the LORD Hinself greets you with the words: “Well done, my good and faithful servant” and gives you the crown of righteousness for your compassion and mercy shown to those in need on the earth.

The current manner of ministry these days (when I speak of ministry, I mean in every respect, not just from the platform), is to give to those who can repay, just as I explained earlier about Christmas gifts. When you give, give to someone who cannot repay you! Of course, exercise wisdom, because the Lord does not want us to cast pearl before swine. Generosity is good, but ”a fool and his money are soon parted!”

Committing our finances to God means that He will guide us so that our generosity will be not exploited or abused. When we give to those in need, we give as unto God. Give, then let it go. do rot expect anything back. God is better able to deal with the recipient if they are not obedient with the gift. Of course we expect it back if it is a loan. When ministering in this way. “God will meet all your needs according to His Glorious Riches in Christ. He sees your faith and THAT is what He will honour.

God is not impressed with our large buildings, television ministries and flashy homes and cars. Unfortunately, to have a successful ministry (one that is recognised and approved), you need to have all of the above. I recently heard a respected minister speak about consumers and producers. He told how be was taught to use particular words in marketing to persuade people to send money when making an appeal on tv. He also told how he chose not to do so as he would be exploiting the Christians. There is so much wisdom in that. We need finances to keep the ministry going, but we need faith even more.

Gone are the days when the word of God was free, when healing did not come at a cost. When an appeal was made and the minister graciously received what the people were able to afford to give. Have we forgotten that God is faithful?

Where is the faith of God today in the church or in your heart?
